Tips for Daily Readings

It seems that these days the question we find the most in every facebook group on Lenormand is “what is going to happen today?” Usually, 3 cards are laid out to reply.

Huh? A lot of things are going to happen today all around the world. I can guarantee you. The first tip I can probably give you is to already ask a correct question. Did you mean “what is going to happen TO ME today?” At least, that would clarify your intention by putting the question in the right context.

Dailies are usually used by people new to Lenormand to get familiar to the core meanings and combinations. And certainly also by people who don’t know what to ask.

All fine with me. But this requires certainly a different approach than a more targeted reading. Without the beginner reader knowing it, they are attempting what are probably the most difficult readings: the ones where there is no context.

Here are a few tips on how to deal with dailies.

Keep your interpretation simple.

The cards don’t certainly have their full meaning most of the time. You’re not going to have surgery every day because you get the scythe. Maybe you’re just cutting the grass. You’re not getting married everyday because you get the ring. You’re not getting divorced everyday because you get the scythe and the ring.

The first rule should be to tone down your meanings. The scythe and the ring might just say that you need to cut a small commitment. You promised someone at work to get a cup of coffee with them, and you have to cancel because you’re busy.

Something small, nothing major. As a rule, the shorter the timeframe, the lighter the weight of the meanings, I usually reserve the full weight of the meanings to a grand tableau.

Bad cards happen.

That’s an integral part of life, some days are good, some days are bad. By the same logic, some days you get good cards, some days you get bad cards.

Just refer to the previous point. No matter how bad it looks, try to use the milder meaning possible for your interpretations. Getting clouds, garden and cross, might just be getting disappointed because it rained during your walk and you had to cut it short. Nothing more.

Try to expand your vocabulary.

Beginners are probably the worst interpreters of dailies because they process information in lists of keyworks.

I always see new readers processing the cards in terms of lists of keywords instead of concepts. And when interpreting, they always go back to the same keywords.

So, what happens? Instead of expanding their vocabulary, they always ressass the same ideas.

Think of a house for example. Your list might include your home, your domicile, your domestic life, and a few others. But try to think about a house as a concept. That’s a place where you live with your family, where you feel at home, secure. It can show also the conform in which you live, your environment and many related things.

Thinking in concepts allows you to extend your vocabulary and see new ways of expressing what your cards can mean.

Try to ask a more precise question.

I guarantee you that picking in advance a context will make you a better and more accurate reader. Instead of asking a generic question, try asking how your work day will be, or how your shopping experience will be.

Anchoring your question in a particular context will help you orienting the meanings you can find in that particular context. That will help you to become more accurate as a reader.

Don’t skip cards.

That’s something I see a lot in facebook groups. Skipping cards because they do not seem to relate to the question. If some cards were drawn, there has to be a reason. You will become a better reader when you incorporate them in your interpretation.
